This past weekend consisted of temperatures in the 70's (!!!) which is almost unheard of during the month of February. Needless to say, we spent every moment of it outside. We spent the morning at the Zoo, went home for nap, and then walked down to the bay until dinner time. It was a brief glimpse of what Spring and Summer time hold for us, and it was just what we needed to get us through the rest of the Winter.
^^ Although we arrived fully prepared with a stroller, he insisted on walking the entire zoo. He walked up every ramp, stumbled down a few, and confidently approached each exhibit to see what animal was hiding inside.
^^ This Red Panda was declared a "CAT!".
^^ I spent most of the morning watching him study all of these animals. When his eyes discovered a new one, I could see his mind working. He intensly watched the way the monkeys moved, and listened to the crazy sounds they made. The best part of it all was that he tried to mimic every animal noise he heard!
^^ It was truly incredible watching him see these animals in "real life" for the first time. We see elephants, monkeys, lions, and bears as images in his books and he knows them all by name. He knows that cows "moooo" and lions "rawwwr". I will never forget seeing him realize how big and amazing these animals really are!
^^ Mr. Lion also took full advantage of this warm sunny day...
After taking a serious tumble walking up the ramp to see the lions, we stopped for a picnic lunch. I was proud of our little man, even after he took a spill, he still wanted to walk all the way back to the car.
^^ These two make me melt!!! We had so much fun.
^^ After nap, it was still warm enough to get our toes sandy. We walked down to the bay with our neighbors to enjoy the day's remaining sun.
A weekend well spent with people we love!
